How One Stop Volume Discounts does it
Any scope
A single variant, a product, collections or store-wide. When deals overlap, the most specific one wins: variant over product, product over collection, collection over store-wide.
Three discount types
A percentage per item, including decimals such as 12.5%, a fixed amount off each item, or a fixed amount off the tier total. A base tier with no discount can show the regular price first.
Six starting points
Create deal opens a choice of deal types: Volume tiers, Price table, Price list, Bundle builder, Cart progress card and Discount only. Each one opens the editor with matching settings, and a color theme can set the accent colors.
Automatic at checkout
The discount applies at checkout with nothing to type. You choose how it combines with other product, order and shipping discounts, and you can switch a deal to a discount code instead.
Results per deal
Each deal reports visitors, add-to-carts, checkouts, conversion rate, bundle rate, average order value, total revenue and added revenue.
Subscriptions too
Choose whether volume discounts apply to one-time purchases only, the first subscription order, or every recurring order.
Example: a $20 product with two volume tiers
| Quantity | Discount | Price per item | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | None | $20.00 | $20.00 |
| 3 | 10% off | $18.00 | $54.00 |
| 5 | 20% off | $16.00 | $80.00 |
The tier the customer reaches applies to every item in the deal, not only to the items above the threshold.
Set it up
- Open the app and choose Create deal, then Volume tiers.
- Under “Offer applies to”, choose the variants, products or collections, or leave the deal store-wide.
- In Price tiers, set a minimum quantity and a discount for each tier, and pick the tier to pre-select.
- Save and activate the deal, then add the app block or turn on the app embed in your theme.
Step-by-step guides with every setting:
Good to know
- The product-page widget needs an Online Store 2.0 theme. A deal set to Discount only applies at checkout with no widget.
- One deal applies per item. When several deals cover the same item, the most specific scope wins.
Questions
Do I need Shopify Plus for volume discounts?
No. One Stop Volume Discounts applies its discounts through a Shopify Function, which runs on every paid Shopify plan.
What is the difference between volume discounts, quantity breaks and tiered pricing?
They describe the same idea from different angles. A volume discount is the saving for buying more. Quantity breaks are the points where the price steps down, such as 3 and 5 items. Tiered pricing is the price at each of those steps. One Stop Volume Discounts sets all three in one deal.
