How do I give a free gift when the cart reaches an amount?
Use Cart rewards, a separate page in One Stop Volume Discounts. Set one or more spend goals, for example “Cart total reaches $150”, choose the free gift for each, and pick where the message shows: in the cart drawer, at the top of the cart page, or at the top of every other page. Customers see how much is still missing, and when they reach the goal they add the gift with one click and it is charged at $0. By default the whole cart counts toward the goal; you can limit it to specific products instead.
Steps
- Open the app and choose Cart rewards in the navigation.
- Give the reward a name in “Reward name”. Customers do not see it.
- Under Spend goals, set “Cart total reaches” to the amount for the first goal, then use “Select free gift” to choose the product or variant.
- Use “Add another goal” for further goals, each with its own amount and gift.
- If only certain products should count toward the goal, turn on “Only count specific products toward the goal” and pick them. Leave it off to count the whole cart.
- Under Placement, choose “Cart drawer”, “Cart page (top of the page)” or “All other pages (top of the page)”.
- Check the messages. The defaults are “Spend {amount} more and get {reward} free” and “You unlocked {reward}!”. {amount} is what is still missing and {reward} is the gift.
- Save, then check the storefront with a cart below and above the goal.
What to watch out for
- One cart reward configuration per store.
- The gift is not added to the cart automatically. The customer unlocks it and clicks Add. If the cart later drops below the goal, the gift stops being free and the message says so.
- The goal is measured on the cart subtotal before discounts, so your own volume discounts do not move a customer in and out of the goal.
- Rewards are free gifts. A percentage off at a spend amount is not available here.
