Do volume discounts work with subscriptions?
Yes. In One Stop Volume Discounts you choose once, for the whole store, how volume discounts treat subscription purchases. “One-time purchases only” discounts one-time purchases and charges subscriptions full price. “Subscriptions: first order only” also discounts the first subscription order. “Subscriptions: every recurring order” discounts renewals too, with the discount fixed from the first order. The choice applies to your automatic deals.
Steps
- Open Settings in the app and choose Subscriptions.
- Pick “One-time purchases only”, “Subscriptions: first order only” or “Subscriptions: every recurring order”.
- Save.
- Check a subscription product on your store: add a tier with a subscription selected and go to checkout.
What to watch out for
- The choice is one per store, not per deal.
- It applies to automatic deals. Deals delivered with a discount code keep Shopify’s default, which discounts the first subscription order.
- With “every recurring order”, the discount stays fixed at the level of the first order.
- If you have no automatic deal yet, the choice is saved and applies when your first automatic deal is created.
