Can I use decimal discount percentages?
Yes. The tier discount field accepts decimals, so 12.5%, 7.5% or 2.25% are all valid. That matters when your tiers come from a supplier price list or an ERP rather than from round marketing numbers. Percentages must be between 1 and 100. Minimum quantity is a separate field and takes whole numbers only.
Steps
- Open the deal and go to Price tiers.
- Set the tier’s Discount Type to “Discount %”.
- Type the value with a decimal point, for example 12.5.
- Check the tier’s Discount title, which is what customers read. “Save 12.5%” is precise; a rounder phrase often reads better.
- Save and preview the widget to confirm the rounded prices look the way you expect.
What to watch out for
- Percentages outside 1 to 100 are rejected.
- Final line prices are rounded by Shopify to your currency’s smallest unit, so a decimal percentage will not always produce an exactly proportional price.
- Minimum quantity takes whole numbers.
