How do I translate the store locator into other languages?
The storefront locator in One Stop Store Locator & Maps comes translated into 11 languages: English, Chinese (Simplified), Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. It follows the language the customer browses your store in, with no setup. To change a text, such as the search box placeholder or the lead form, open Translations in the app, pick a language and type your own wording next to the English original. The app’s admin comes in the same 11 languages.
Steps
- In your Shopify admin, add and publish the languages your store sells in, under Settings, then Languages.
- Open your store in one of those languages. The locator shows its texts in that language.
- To change a text, open Translations in the app.
- Pick the language from the menu at the top of the page.
- Each row shows the Original in English and a field for the language. The placeholder is the app’s own translation; leave a field empty to keep it.
- Type your wording and save.
- For the popup button, open Settings, then Popup button, and use Manage translations on Button text.
- For location pages, translate each location’s name, address and description with Shopify’s Translate & Adapt app.
What to watch out for
- In a storefront language outside these 11, the locator shows its English texts.
- In the store locator, location names, addresses and descriptions show as you typed them.
